Zwin Nature Park

Sometimes they take off in their thousands and treat you to a dazzling air show. And every now and then, you can see how a wild duck traces a line on the water, before gracefully settling down. Zwin Nature Park is a place where time seems to have no relevance as you immerse yourself in the wonderful world of migratory birds. In 1952, the Zwin became the very first Flemish ‘reserve’, an initiative pioneered by Count Léon Lippens. A year later, it became an educational bird park where everyone was welcome. Today, it is an interactive nature experience park managed by the Province of West Flanders and the Agency for Nature and Forest, offering permanent and temporary exhibitions, a cabin trail, a panorama tower and, of course, the 333-hectare Zwin Plain as an unmissable nature experience.
