Put your bike to one side for a moment and wander over the cobblestones between the picturesque white houses of the beguinage of Kortrijk. It is one of the most important historical sites and that says a lot in the city of the Battle of the Golden Spurs. The beguinage is even older, probably dating as far back as 1238! In the new experience centre in the Sint-Annazaal, three distinguished ladies take you on a journey through the centuries: residents Marie Van den Brande (15th century), Barbara Bonte (17th century) and Clementia Hiers (19th century). Also take a look at the little house at the main entrance. This is how the beguines lived here in the 19th century.
