Duisburg Plateau

Fields as far as you can see with here and there a small copse or a solitary tree. Mysterious sunken roads cut deep into the landscape that offer you a moment’s shelter and respite from that constant fight against the wind. In the open salt marsh landscape of the Duisburg plateau, it’s you against the natural elements, and nothing else. Glorious! At the highest point in the landscape there is an unusual work of art: OOGHOOGTE. The curved shapes evoke the undulating fields and sunken roads. You might also recognise an eye in it; one that literally and figuratively gazes upon the land.
