The Meuse in Herbricht

The Meuse is at its most beautiful in the hamlet of Herbricht, where the river gets all the space it needs and meanders freely along the border with the Netherlands. Nature determines the rhythm here. Animals come and go, just like human beings themselves. American artist Mark Dion captured the special atmosphere of the place in his work Tree of Life. The six-metre-high tree of life contains 16 sculptures that tell the story of the region. From the mosasaur and woolly mammoth that once roamed here, to the buck with the silver chalice as a reminder of the marauding Buckriders.
