Kempense Heuvelrug

The elongated hill between the Ae and Kleine Nete valleys stands out in the flat landscape of the Kempen region. 15 kilometres long, it is covered in sand, pines and here and there open heathland. The fens are true gems of nature, exemplified by Zwart Water and the Snepkensvijver. At the very top, hikers, joggers, mountain bikers and horse riders can find plenty to enjoy in provincial green domain Hoge Mouw. Do not be startled by the monumental head that seems to emerge from the sand. This strange work by artist duo Gijs Van Vaerenbergh feeds the myths of the landscape.
