Yser Tower and Museum on the Yser

From kilometres away, the cross of the Yser Tower stands out on the horizon in the flat landscape of the Westhoek. At a height of 84 metres, it is Europe’s tallest peace monument! It is a memorial to the Flemish soldiers who lost their lives during WWI. At the very top, you have a stunning view, but first the 22 floors of the Museum of the Yser await you. Or you can play it smart: take the lift up and go down on foot. The museum tells the story of the Belgian-German front during WWI, underscored by the clear and still ever-relevant message ‘No more war’.
