Farmhouse Bree-Eik

The imposing square farmstead Bree-Eik seems to be carved into the rolling Pajottenland landscape, as if Pieter Bruegel the Elder was about to stroll out of the gate, easel under his arm. Once upon a time, in around 1172, Bree-Eik was a real den of thieves. There is no hint of that past today; the whitewashed buildings stand charmingly among the meadows with farm horses, fields and copses. After a complete restoration, this monumental manor farm now serves as a knowledge centre for ancient cereals and organic agriculture.
