Grote markt Leuven

Does the Town Hall in Leuven really need an introduction? It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful town halls in the Low Countries, and arguably in the whole world. With its richly decorated Gothic façade, its turrets, pinnacles, front staircase, corner towers and 235 statues. St Peter’s Church, on the other side of the Grote Markt, is just as old. Be sure to take a look inside, as there are some artworks hanging there that you must not miss. The Last Supper is an absolute masterpiece of Flemish painting. Leuven master Dieric Bouts created it specially for that spot on the wall of St Peter’s Church where it still hangs today, almost 600 years later. Ask for a tablet or hololens at the reception desk and watch the entire church come alive.
